George Salazar

George Salazar
March 29, 1969 ~ May 5, 2026

George “the music man” Salazar, known to all simply as George, passed away on 2026-05-05 in Lawton, Oklahoma, and he leaves behind a song-filled legacy that will echo in the hearts of those who loved him. Born in Corpus Christi, Texas, George lived a life marked by warmth, wit, rhythm, and a spirit that could light up any room he entered. He was a Christian man whose faith helped guide him, and he carried himself with a kindness that was as steady as it was sincere. Funny, creative, and passionate, he was the kind of man who could turn an ordinary moment into a memory, and a quiet gathering into a celebration.

George was forced out of school at a young age to help his family after his father passed early in life, and though his education was cut short, his wisdom was never lacking. He learned the lessons that mattered most from living, loving, working, and persevering. He was a jack of many trades, yet music remained his greatest passion. In every note, every tune, and every hum of a familiar melody, George found a place where his heart felt free. His gift was not only in making music, but in making people feel the music of life itself.

Those who knew George knew that his love for music was matched only by his love for family. His music was his true joy, his anchor, and his greatest pride. He lived to be surrounded by the people he cherished, and he made it known that he loved them deeply and without reserve. He was also known for living to be the life of the party, or as many would say, the party itself. He brought laughter wherever he went, and he had a way of making everyone feel welcomed, included, and seen. His humor was quick, his heart was generous, and his presence was unforgettable.

George is survived by his wife, Nolie Salazar, and by his sons, Lloyd Simpson, James Simpson, and Georgie Boyd. He is also survived by his daughters, Lynette Donham, Angelita, Charadie Salazar, and Rebecca Holtz. His grandchildren include Kiersten Demitt, Jt Young, Cheyenne Young, Demetria Salazar, Nolie Salazar, Kenda Hammack, Misty Nivison, Catelynn Salazar, Stormy, Destiny Tollison, Benjiman Salazar, Latisha Howe, Neheah Simpson, James Simpson Jr., Parker Simpson, Peyton Simpson, Lexi, Jaden Jaxxy Edward’s, and Loadynn Simpson. He is further survived by many, many great-grandchildren, each one a continuing note in the family melody he helped create. His love stretched across generations, and his legacy lives on in the laughter, strength, and stories of those who carry his name and memory forward.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Maria Sanchez Salazar, and his father, Antonio Salazar. Antonia jr Salazar brother, Rosa Maria Webb Guadalupe Zamora, Sanjuanita Benevides sisters. He leaves behind brothers, Irenio, and Ruben Salazar, and his sisters, Santos Garcia, Florida Griego, Maria Delores Salazar, and Blanca Sanchez. Though he now rests among loved ones who went before him, the bonds they shared remain woven into the family history that George helped shape. The love they gave him, and the love he gave in return, will continue to live on in remembrance.

George’s life was a testament to resilience, devotion, and joy. He worked hard, loved deeply, and laughed often. He knew how to make the best of what life offered, and he had a rare gift for turning hardship into humor and work into purpose. Even when life asked much of him, he answered with heart. He was a man whose passions were plain to see, whose feelings were never hidden, and whose presence could be felt long after he left the room. He was creative in the way he lived, passionate in the way he loved, and funny in the way he connected with others.

In the end, George Salazar was more than a name, more than a memory, and more than a melody. He was a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was a man of faith, a keeper of laughter, and a lover of music whose rhythm will not be forgotten. As the poet and songwriter Maya Angelou once wrote, “Nothing can dim the light which shines from within.” George carried that light in his own way, and it shone in every smile he sparked, every song he shared, and every heart he touched. Though he has taken his final bow, the music he made in life will keep on playing, soft and sweet, in the memories of all who knew and loved him.
