Lynetta "Nettie" Rutledge was born in the old Woodward Hospital on 4th Street on 11 June 1949 to Lawrence Alexander Thomas and Beulah Evelyn (Reid) Thomas. She was the youngest of 4 children. After graduating from Fort Supply High School, she began working at Western State Hospital in Fort Supply. In 1967, she married Fred Rabe and two daughters, Brenda Sue and Leslie Carol, were born to this union. In 1971, she married Samuel Murray and a son and daughter, Samuel Alex & Susan Anne, were born to this union. On 30 May 1998, she married the "Love of Her Life" Calvin "Bernie" Bernard Rutledge at his home on the Farm North of Woodward, Oklahoma. From this union she gained a step-grandson, Ed, and 2 step-granddaughters, Robin and Tracy, and several great-grandchildren.

She worked on Barry Building at the Western State Hospital for many years. She also worked as a secretary at the Hieronymus, Hogden, Hallren & Myers Law Office in Woodward for many years. She also worked cleaning numerous Oil Companies and Dental Offices in Woodward, with her children instilling a tremendous work ethic in her children. She worked as a secretary in the Northwest Oklahoma Behavioral Health office in Woodward, before transferring to open a satellite office in Alva, Oklahoma, where she retired. She was active in Knit Wits in Woodward and anything that her grandchildren did she was right there cheering them on from the sidelines. She was right beside her lifelong friend Lanell during her battle with cancer.

After she retired, Bernie turned a City Girl into a Country Girl. He taught her how to fix fences, raise Angus Cattle, and run the ranch the way he had done it all his life. She and he continued the legacy of the ranch by passing on their knowledge to the next three generations. When Bernie received his Quilt of Valor in 2016, her love for sewing was rekindled by volunteering to make Quilts of Valor for other veterans. She even had the opportunity to purchase a Longarm to aid the process of covering more veterans.

She is preceded in death by her parents, the love of her life, Bernie, only son, Samuel Alex, her brother & sister-in-law AC & Ester Thomas, brothers-in-love Herb, Herald, Bill, Jim, Thomas, Ralph & Louis Rutledge.
