Terry Wayne Rushin

June 18, 1945 ~ Nov. 14, 2012

Terry Wayne Rushin, age 67, of Davant Extended Care Facility, Blowing Rock, NC, passed away peacefully on Wednesday Nov. 14, 2012. Born June 18, 1945 in Greensboro, NC, he was a son of the late Ben and Zelma Sexton Rushin.

Terry was a graduate of Walter M. Williams High School in Burlington, NC and UNC Chapel Hill.

Terry made a home in Chickasha, but travelled the world as an oil rig engineer or "roustabout", the more appropriate term as his life was filled with adventures. He suffered a stroke in China which left him totally paralyzed, almost totally mute for the last decade. He nonetheless endured his life with a heroism and humanism that won him the love and respect of his many caregivers and old friends.

He is survived by two brothers; Donald James Rushin and Ben Rushin.

A rememberance will be held at the Davant Extended Care Facility at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29 and a memorial gathering will be held in Boone, NC in the spring, at a time to be announced. Memorials can be made, with gratitude, to the caregivers who made his last months so much better: Medi-Home Hospice, PO Box 1357, Newland, NC 28657.

Online condolences may be sent to the Rushin family at www.austinandbarnesfuneralhome.com

Austin & Barnes Funeral Home & Crematory is serving the Rushin family.
