Ruth Evelyn (Friend) Rovenstine
December 6, 1943 ~ February 19, 2022

Ruth Evelyn Rovenstine, 78, passed away Saturday, Feb. 19, 2022, in Bartlesville, OK. She served a Risen Savior and will rejoice in His house forever.

Ruth was born Dec. 6, 1943, in Fredonia, KS, the daughter of Charles and Annabel Friend. She attended Maple Grove Elementary School in Wilson County and graduated from Fredonia High School in 1962. Several days after graduation, she married Loren Dee Rovenstine on May 29 and they were married for 59 years.

The summer they married, the Rovenstines moved to Colorado Springs, CO, where the couple began their lifelong ministry. Ruth was gifted with musical talent and she enjoyed serving and assisting Loren in everything they did together. They worked as youth pastors, assistant pastors, senior pastors, camp directors, and music evangelists. At their wedding Ruth and Loren sang a duet, “Whither Thou Goest” (Ruth 1:16) and that they did. They served churches in Colorado Springs, CO; Pueblo, CO; Oshkosh, NE; St. Joe, MO; Goodland, KS; Newton, KS; Dear Flat, ID; Centralia, IL; Bartlesville, OK, First Nazarene Church; and Fredonia, KS, Calvary Wesleyan – wherever they were called to serve.

Ruth was a beautician, great cook, prayer warrior and caring to all. She loved her husband, kids, grandkids, nieces, nephews, in-laws, neighbors, friends, and most of all Jesus. She was a devoted Christian and really loved JESUS. The joy of the Lord was her strength in life and she will be deeply missed.

Ruth is survived by her husband, Loren; son, Steven and his wife Jennifer of Overland Park, KS; daughter-in-law, Ronda Rovenstine of Centralia, IL; daughter-in-law, Peg Rovenstine of Bartlesville, OK; grandchildren, Luke, Cooper and Alanna Rovenstine, all of Overland Park, KS, Matthew Rovenstine of Bartlesville, Adrienne Franklin and her husband Bob of Centralia, IL, Trent and Mason Rovenstine of Bartlesville, and Shaina Dyer and husband Eric of Winston-Salem, NC; great-grandchildren, Jaleigh Reese of Centralia, IL, Jacob and Finley Rovenstine of Bartlesville. Ruth is also survived by her brother, Larry and his wife Betty of Pierce, CO; sister, Rita and her husband Joe Phillippe of Bartlesville; and more than 135 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Jeff and Les, who were loved dearly. In addition to her parents, Charles and Annabel Friend, Ruth was preceded in death by her siblings, Billie, Betty, Susie, and Martha.

Ruth’s family will receive friends at the Davis Family Funeral Home & Crematory – Walker Brown Chapel, 918-333-7665, 4201 Nowata Rd, Bartlesville, on Friday, from 6-8 p.m. Visitation will also be held on Friday from 10-8.
Services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, at First Wesleyan Church, with the Rev. Nathan Rovenstine officiating. Graveside services will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Farmington Cemetery near Fredonia, KS. Services are under the direction of Carter Davis and the Davis Family Funeral Home & Crematory – Walker Brown Chapel.
