Robert Lee "Bob" Rogers

Robert Lee "Bob" Rogers
November 28, 1932 ~ May 16, 2021

Robert Lee Rogers (Bob) died May 16, 2021, after a fall and six-week illness. He was born November 28, 1932, outside of Enid, Oklahoma, to Truman and Bessie Rogers. He attended a small country school for two years and thereafter attended Adams Elementary and Longfellow Jr. High School in Enid. He graduated from Enid High School in 1950.

Bob met his future wife, Dorothy June Galyon, on a blind date, and they were married in Garber, Oklahoma, at age 18 in 1951. They remained married for 49 years until Dorothy's death in 2000.

Bob attended college at Phillips University in Enid, while Dorothy worked to put him through school. He graduated in 1954 with degrees in Geology and Physics.

One of his greatest mentors and friends was Romayne S. Baker, who helped him start out in the oil business. Eventually, Bob formed his own company, Rogers Resources. Bob had a legendary work ethic and could be found at his office seven days a week until the time of his last illness.

Bob was active in his community. He served as Lions Club president, trustee of Phillips University, finance chairman of the Enid Salvation Army and as chairman of the board of Central National Bank (now Stride) for 30 years. He was a longtime member of Central Christian Church.

Bob was a loving and generous husband and father. He is survived by sisters, Joan Compton and Linda Carleton. His younger brother, Gene Rogers, preceded Bob in death by 4 days. He is also survived by his son Robert Galyon Rogers and wife Leilani, his daughter Janet Rogers Anderson and husband Wayne, and his granddaughter Chandler Rogers. May he rest in peace.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Concordia Life Plan Community and Good Shepherd Hospice in Oklahoma City for their excellent and loving care.

Memorials in Bob's memory may be made to Enid Salvation Army, 518 North Independence Street, Enid, OK 73701; Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, 825 NE 13th Street, Oklahoma City, OK, 73104; or Central Christian Church Congo Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at Central Christian Church of Enid, OK, on Saturday May 22, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. followed by a reception. Remembrances and floral arrangements may be made at stittsworthfuneralservices.com.
