Rudy Ray Rockett, Jr.

Rudy Ray Rockett, Jr.
September 17, 1976 ~ April 26, 2023

Rudy Ray Rockett, Jr., 46, of Ponca City, OK, left this life on April 26, 2023, in Oklahoma City, OK. A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, May 6, 2023, at St. Luke's Church of the Nazarene, with Pastor David Frees officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory, 505 W. Grand Ave, Ponca City, OK, 74601.

Rudy was born on September 17, 1976, in Ponca City, OK, to Rudy Ray Rockett, Sr., and Jolynn (Morris) Saylor. Growing up he enjoyed going outside and being as active as he could. He loved playing basketball and football, as well as going fishing, skiing, hiking, and swimming. As he got older he enjoyed mostly spending time with those that he loved and cherished. You could often find him outside by a fire, reading, cracking jokes, or just laughing and sharing stories with those around him. He wasn’t a stranger to anyone he met and always went out of his way to make sure that everyone was cared for, no matter the cost.

He also was quite the chef when it came to grilling, always finding an excuse to fire up the grill and feed those around him. Whether he was rooting for the Chiefs, Sooners, or Wildcats, he loved the sport of football and cheering on his home teams. He loved investing in those around him every chance he could get and made sure that everyone knew that they had someone in their corner, cheering them on and supporting them. If you knew Rudy, you knew that he was someone who would be described as a gentle giant and deemed “Big Bear” by his mother-in-law Mary. He loved well, and he was as kind as could be.

He worked as a salesman at Pioneer Auto and thoroughly enjoyed his involvement there as he was able to meet anyone and everyone. He also worked for the Marland Children’s Home for an extended period of time and was able to invest in the youth in our community that needed it the most. Prior to both of these, Rudy worked for Haliburton and was able to travel the world. All the way from California to Hungary. He often found friends and always left his mark everywhere he went. Rudy truly was a friend to anyone and was always willing to offer up a bed or couch for anyone who needed it.

Rudy was someone who always pointed toward the accomplishments of others and the lives of those around him. He was deeply in love with his wife, Rosalinda Rockett, who tragically passed two years before. And he was beyond proud of the two kids they raised, Kaylen Gallardo and Rudy Rockett. Often times you couldn’t get through a conversation without hearing about at least one of those three. As sad as it is that he has passed, there is an abundance of peace knowing that he is once again reunited with the love of his life, Rosa.

Rudy is survived by: son, Rudy Rockett III; daughter, Kaylen Gallardo; sister, Stormi Rockett; mother-in-law, Mary Castillo; step-mother Elizabeth Rockett; grandmother, Clara B. Morris; sister-in-law Amy Gallardo; brother-in-law Jose Perales; brother, Jacob Leonard; brother, Evan Doran; sister Aimee Barnard; uncle, Rodney Morris; uncle, David Morris; aunt, Ronda Giles; as well as many nieces and nephews he dearly loved and cherished.

Rudy was preceded in death by: wife, Rosalinda; parents, Rudy, Sr., and Jolynn Saylor; brother, Nathaniel Rockett; uncle; James Morris; grandparents, Pansy and Lowell Rockett; uncle, Tony Rockett; sister-in-law Elida Gallardo; and cousin, Jeano Godfrey.
