David G. Robbins Sr., fondly known by friends as "The Mayor," age 75, of Bartlesville, passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2026, in Bartlesville, OK.
David was born on October 18, 1950, the son of Garland and Loretta Robbins (Waite). He was born minutes after his twin sister Donna Comstock (Robbins). David was raised in Caney, KS, and moved to Bartlesville in 1967 when he married the love of his life, Sherry Lowe. David and Sherry were blessed with two sons, David G. Robbins Jr. and Michael S. Robbins. David was employed by the City of Bartlesville Street and Water Department for 32 years.
David enjoyed many wonderful summer vacations with family. One of his favorite trips was to British Columbia and Alberta, Canada, in a motorhome with his Washington family. He enjoyed fishing for trout and panning for gold while in Canada. When not on vacation, he enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, playing golf with his boys, and playing the slots at the casino. David also enjoyed spending time playing with his grandchildren.
One member of his work family had this to say about David: "His retirement was hard on all of us. Everybody loved and respected "Pops," "Robbins' eggs," "The Mayor," "Dave," "Davey," or David. He really was a precious man who could make backbreaking work enjoyable and the crew you wanted to be on and stay on. The laughter and camaraderie were off the charts throughout the seasons. The very best of my 30 years with the city is because of the giant of a man, David Robbins." David loved his family and friends dearly.
David is survived by his wife, Sherry Robbins; his children, David Robbins and wife Caitlin, and Mike Robbins and wife Kelly; 11 grandchildren, Ashlynn Hopkins and husband Bailey, Johnathan Robbins, Kaley Herron and husband Clint, Amanda Griggs and Jordan, Hunter Griggs and wife Tori, Hunter Robbins, Trent Robbins, Luke Robbins, Cade Robbins, Kyndal Robbins, Kaia Robbins; 8 great-grandchildren, Natalie, Noah, Monte, River, Leighton, Delson, Arlin, and Colsen; his sister Mary Dale Robbins; his brothers, Rick Robbins, Jim Robbins and wife Julie, and Mark Robbins and wife Alycia; brothers-in-law Carl Lowe and wife Kathy, Charles Lowe and Gary Comstock; David also had several beloved nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.
