Anna Ruth (Cochrum) Ricketson

Anna Ruth (Cochrum) Ricketson
March 8, 1943 ~ March 8, 2018

Anna Ruth Ricketson passed from this life to be with our Lord on March 8, 2018, at the age of 75.

Anna was born in Houston Texas, on March 8, 1943, to Earl and Otelia Cochrum. In her early years, Anna's family moved frequently as her father was an iron worker. She lived in New Mexico, Colorado, Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas, finally settling in Tucumcari, N.M., until her marriage to David in 1960. After her marriage, Anna moved to New Haven, Connecticut, and there her three oldest children were born. Shortly after her daughter's birth she moved back to the New Mexico area and finally settled in Dalhart, Texas, where she managed the local Pizza Hut for 10 years and her youngest child was born.

After the passing of her husband, David, Anna moved to Baton Rouge, La., to be closer to her mother during her final years. She lived in south Texas for a few years and moved to Ponca City, in 2012 where she resided until her death. She owned her house and enjoyed renovating and improving it, especially loving her rose bushes and daffodils that grew in the front yard.

Anna was a very fun-loving person, often playing practical jokes on her friends and family. She really liked playing cards and had many friends and acquaintances that she enjoyed spending time with. She loved to dance and sing, played piano by ear, and was especially fond of playing hymns. She loved to laugh and had a great love for life, always looking for the upside of any situation and working through difficulties as they came. She loved her pets, especially her small poodles and chihuahuas over the years. She adopted her grandson's cat in later years and she loved her kitty immensely.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Earl Gordon and William Winston Cochrum; and her husband, David Ricketson.

She is survived by sister, Elizabeth Jean LeBlanc (Eddie); and brother, Horace Cochrum; sister-in-law, Wanda Cochrum; and four children, Mark Ricketson (Kelly), Kevin Ricketson (Elizabeth), Davia Richard (Randy), and Chad Ricketson (Crystal), in addition to her longtime companion, Charles Myers. She has 14 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild, and will be missed by all of them.

A memorial service to gratefully remember her life will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, March 13, at Northeast Baptist Church. Services are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home and Crematory.
