Services for Thurman Dale Reid, 84, of Marietta were held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 16 in the Meador-Clement-Keel Chapel with the Rev. Bill Black, pastor of Grand Avenue Baptist Church, Gainesville, Texas officiating. Interment followed in Fairview Cemetery.
Born September 3, 1929 in Saint Jo, Texas, the son of Barney and Hattie Mae Blodgett Reid, he died Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at Mercy Health Center.
He and Margie Wilkins were married July 25, 1952 in Weatherford, Texas. Mr. Reid worked as a crew foreman for Cooke County Electric until his retirement.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Christy Sconce; a brother, Lavonne Reid and his parents. Survivors include his wife, Margie Reid of Marietta; two daughters and sons-in-law, Pat and John Sconce of Marietta and Alisa and Danny Steadham of Denton, Texas; a son and daughter-in-law, Barney and Lanetta Reid of Oak Point, Texas; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers were John Sconce, Danny Steadham, Shannon Sconce, Lupe Chavarria, Eric Chavarria and Jerry Sconce.
