Sammy Ward “Sam” Reed
March 21, 1940 ~ December 9, 2021

Sammy “Sam” W. Reed was born March 21, 1940, in Stilwell, Oklahoma to D. W. Reed and Ruth (Ward) Reed. Sam passed away December 9, 2021, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma at the age of 81 years.

Sam and his wife Glenda were married on October 16, 1981. Together they raised two sons: Sam W. Reed, Jr., and Michael Blair. Together the Reed family owned and operated Reed’s Grocery for 40 years. The store was located at Four Corners on Highway 100 East.

Sam was preceded in death by his parents; his stepson: Michael; and four brothers: Frank, Bobby, Tom, and Jack.

He is survived by his wife: Glenda of the home; his son: Sam, Jr. of Arlington, Texas; three sisters: Pat Leatherwood of Stilwell, Oklahoma, Retha and husband Lennie Gunsaulis of Siloam Springs, Arkansas, and Gerri Hurley of Houston, Texas; one sister–in– law: Shirley Reed of Nicut, Oklahoma and many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Sam will be cherished in our hearts forever.

Memorial Service was held 2:00 PM, Monday, December 13, 2021 at Bidding Creek Baptist Church, Stilwell, OK under the direction of Roberts-Reed-Culver Funeral Home, Stilwell, OK.
