Gary L. Reed

December 31, 1934 ~ May 25, 1986

Wellington, Kansas – Gary L. Reed, 51, died Sunday, May 25, 1986 at a Wellington, Kansas hospital. Graveside services were conducted at 4:10 PM Wednesday at Riverview Cemetery in Kiowa, Kansas. A second service was observed at 7 PM Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church in Wellington. The reverends Aully Holst and Orvaleen Post officiated. Arrangements were by Frank Funeral Home in Wellington.

Reed was born December 31, 1934, in Hazelton, Kansas, and had lived in Wellington, Kansas, the past 10 years. He and Jeraldine Thompson were married April 19, 1957, in Capron.

Reed was District Conservationist for the United States Soil Conservation Service and a member of the Royal Order of Moose, Wheat Growers Association, Soil Conservation Society of America, National Association of Conservation Districts and Kansas Association of Conservation Districts. He also was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Jeraldine; two sons, Brent, of the home, and Mike, Wellington, Kansas; his parents, Ralph and June Reed, Alva; a brother, Doctor A. J. Reed, Wichita, Kansas; a sister, Sandra Reed, Arlington, Texas; and two step – grandchildren.

Memorials in his name may be made to the American Heart Association or to Kansas Farm Aid.
