Leona Myrl (Fent) Ramsey-Oaks

May 2, 1919 ~ August 21, 2012

Leona Myrl Ramsey-Oaks was born to Horace and Elizabeth Fent on May 2, 1919, in Orlando, OK., and went to be with her Heavenly Father on August 21, 2012. On May 14, 1938

Leona married Clarence James (Bud) Ramsey in Mulhall, OK, and in the years that followed they raised a large family.

Leona worked for many years cleaning peoples homes. In her later years she met and married Emerson E. Oaks, Jr. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Nicoma Park for over 60 years. As a younger adult, she was active in Sunday School and WMU. In later years, she was still active in Sunday School and helped faithfully with the We Care Ministry. She also enjoyed participating in 39ers and the Cornerstone Choir. She enjoyed working on family history & genealogy, painting, color pencil art, and making jewelry.

Leona was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Clarence James (Bud) Ramsey and by her second husband of 7 years, Emerson E. Oaks, Jr. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Betchan and Cleo McAlister, and one brother, Richard Fent.

She is survived by 2 brothers & their wives, Melvin and MaryAnn Fent of Luther, OK, Raymon & Gayla Fent of Wyandotte, OK, and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by 4 loving sons and their wives, Jim & Marilyn Ramsey of Midwest City, David & Cynthia Ramsey of Choctaw, Ron & Cathy Ramsey of Midwest City, Paul and DeeAnn Ramsey of Choctaw, one devoted daughter and her husband, Nancy & David Cozens of Choctaw, and daughter, Janie Willis of Newalla, OK. In addition, she is survived by 18 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, & 3 great, great grandchildren, who loved her dearly.

In February of this year it was Leona"s decision to move to an assisted living center, Arbor House in Midwest City, where she made a whole new set of friends who love her and will also miss her greatly.
