Karen Idelle Rafferty died November 9, 2019 in Wayne, Oklahoma at the age of 77 years 11 months 23 days. Services are scheduled for 2PM, Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Lemmon, South Dakota. Local arrangements entrusted to the care of Wadley’s Funeral Service, Inc.

Karen was born November 17, 1941 in Lemmon, South Dakota to Harold Dewitt and Eudora Deliliah (Peterson) Beyers. She was raised in Morristown and Lemmon, South Dakota. On July 11, 1957 she married Larry Rafferty at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Lemmon, South Dakota. They were married for just shy of 57 years when Larry passed in 2014. Karen worked as a Jeweler for many years. She was an avid League Bowler in the 70's and 80's. Karen was a Fort Meade Chapel Ladies auxiliary volunteer for 12 years, and chosen in 1996 as volunteer of the year. She was also part of the Grace Lutheran Ladies auxiliary in Sturgis for 20 years. Karen is a lifelong member to the VFW and American Legion ladies auxiliary in both Lemmon and Sturgis, South Dakota. She attended every bull riding event, football game, baseball game, softball game and cheerleading event her grandchildren had, health permitting, which was most all of them. The family relocated to Oklahoma around 2004, making their home in Wayne.

Karen is preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Eudora Beyers; husband, Larry Rafferty; stepfather, Herb Farstad; son Larry Owen Rafferty; grandson, Andrew Simmons; great grandson, Kal-el Wilder and her 7 siblings. Survivors include her son, Scott Rafferty and wife, Belinda of Wayne; daughters, Jacqi Satterlee and husband, Stuart of Deadwood, SD, Jill Harris and husband, Ron of Spearfish, SD, Kari Phillips and husband, Mike of Columbus, Montana; 10 grandchildren, Ashley, Justin, Shannon, Spring, Kenny, Amanda, Tony, Shawn, Chris and Tyler’ 17 great grandchildren, Caleb, Braxlee, Logan, Keeley, Kolton, Drakon, Chloe, Skylar, Blaine, Jordan, Lilah, Kody, Evan, Kellison, Noah, Raelyn and Ronnie; 1 great-great grandchild, Ella; a sister in law, Bonnie Beyers and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
