Gene Dillon Pyle

February 21, 1930 ~ September 24, 2021 (age 91)

Gene Dillon Pyle was born February 21, 1930 in Stonington, Illinois to Henry and Ida (Clayborn) Pyle. He passed away September 24, 2021 in Chandler, Oklahoma at the age of 91.

As a young boy, his family moved to a farm in Taylorville, Illinois. He attended school there graduating in 1948. Gene had to walk some distance every day to grade school, so he later bought a motorcycle to have his own ride to high school. Upon graduating he worked for John Deere in their parts department. He then worked for a trucking company and spent a few years as a prison guard in Joliet State Prison until working for Exon-Mobile for 9 years.

Gene married Lois Baratta in 1950 and they raised three children together. He bought a long-haul truck and spent 14 years driving a truck with his wife, Lois. Together, they retired to Carney, Oklahoma where they cherished the next 23 years together until his passing.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Ida Pyle; and his sister. Survivors include his wife of nearly 71 years, Lois Pyle of the home; children, Darla Placencia of Illinois, Gary Pyle of West Virginia, Julitta Gillbert and her husband Gregory of Illinois; (4) granddaughters; (5) great-grandchildren; brother, Howard Pyle of Illinois; along with other family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
