Private family services are planned to celebrate and remember the life of Russell L. “Rusty” Pulis. Rusty passed away in Vinita, OK on Saturday, October 26, 2024. He was 57.
Born in Grove, OK on December 15, 1966, to John J. and Lillian A. (Boyles) Pulis. Rusty was raised and educated in the Grove area attending Grove, Afton and Fairland Public Schools. Having special needs, Rusty was lucky enough to have a mother that understood the special care he needed. She made sure he would be well taken care of his entire life.
In 2005 Rusty began a new chapter of his life that lasted until his death at Fountain House Group Home in Vinita. It was a place where he not only could have his independence but made many lifelong friends as well. Always ready to eat, Rusty’s brother said he always wanted to know what was for breakfast, lunch and dinner. He had a few favorites and that was a cheeseburger and apple pie. Rusty liked to dance and participated in several Special Olympics. When it came to the group home workers Rusty had them all wrapped around his finger. They in return took every opportunity to spoil him.
A young man that even with his limitations has left a huge legacy that will live on in the lives of his family and friends. Rusty is survived by his brothers, Wayne Pulis and wife Sonja, Jeff Pulis and wife Keli, sisters, Martha Pulis and Phyllis Fulfer and husband Les. A multitude of nieces, nephews and extended family. Rusty was preceded in death by his parents.
Rusty’s family would like to thank Fountain House Group Home in Vinita for the excellent care they gave Rusty throughout his life.
