Dr. Lyford Pruitt

December 9, 1913 ~ October 6, 2003

Dr. Lyford Pruitt passed away on October 6, 2003. He was born in Marlow, Oklahoma, on December 9, 1913. He earned his dental degree at the College of Physicians and Surgeons in 1941. Lyford was a retired life member of the KCDs.

He owned his own practice in Bakersfield for more than 40 years.

Dr. Pruitt will be remembered as a kind and gentle man. His friends and family will remember him by his bolo ties and his polished rocks. He loved to make canes and give them to his family. Dr. Pruitt was also an avid golfer.

Dr. Pruitt is preceded in death by his loving wife of almost 60 years, Wilma.

He is survived by his daughters, Susan Houston and Judith Miller; grandchildren, Tammy Castro, Courtney Kelley and Daria Miller; great grandchildren, Bill Cook and Bryce Kelley.

There will be a 'Celebration of Life' at his daughter's home. Visitation will be held at Hillcrest Mortuary, Thursday, October 9, 2003, from 4 - 8 p.m.
