Carol Jo Pruitt

Memorial services are pending for Carol Jo Pruitt Bertrang, 68, of Los Angeles, California.

Born May 1, 1941 in Los Angeles, the daughter of Cletus Gerald and Henriella Hudspeth Pruitt, she died Tuesday, August 25, 2009 in Los Angeles, after a brief illness.

She and Kennedy Bertrang were married September 15, 1973 in Dallas, and they moved to Los Angeles in 1976. She was the granddaughter of the late F.C. And Ruby Thompson Ridgway of Marietta and the niece of the late Dr. Donivan L. Ridgway of Dallas. A 1959 graduate of Marietta High School, Mrs. Bertrang attended the Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha and graduated from the Caruth School of Dental Hygiene at Baylor Dental College in Dallas. She was a licensed dental hygienist. Her love and avocation was painting and she was beautifully accomplished in oil and pastel. Mrs. Bertrang was a member of the American Society of Portrait Artists.

Survivors include her husband, Ken Bertrang of Tujunga, California; two sisters, Gail Pruitt of Jamestown, Kentucky and Lynne Sprague and family of Carmichael, California; an aunt, Heloise Ridgway of Dallas; cousins, Beverly Wilson of Marietta, Barbara Ridgway and Dr. Don Ridgway, both of Dallas; mother-in-law, Myrtle Bertrang of Evant, Texas, and the Bertrang family; and many friends and colleagues.

Carol loved and was loved and we will miss having her with us.
