Funeral services for Earl Prigmore will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 5, 2023, with Rev. Paul Kirk officiating. He will be cremated at his request and his cremains will be buried in the National Cemetery, Houston, Texas, under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva.

Earl Herold Prigmore, son of the late Charles Lee and Ada Pearl (Hunt) Prigmore, was born October 23, 1925, at Alva, and passed away April 2, 2023, at Alva, at the age of 97 years, 5 months and 10 days.

He grew up in Alva, one of 11 children. Earl attended Horace Mann School before graduating from Alva High School. He went on to Northwestern State College where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in physics. He proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II in the Atlantic and Pacific areas. In 1959 he was united in marriage to Barbara "Bobbye" Pauley and she passed in 1982.

During his career, he was a geophysicist for Mid Continent in the Rocky Mountain area of the United States and later for Amerada Hess. Earl spent three years in Australia, seven years in Venezuela, and three years in Houston before retiring from Amerada Hess in 1971. After he retired, he returned to his hometown of Alva in 1986. He married Betty Pfleider on February 5, 1994. They made their home in Alva and attended the First Baptist Church. He enjoyed gardening and wine making.

Besides his parents, Charles and Ada, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara, and his wife, Betty; and by his ten siblings, Alta Hofen, Kathren Mohr, Tandy Prigmore, Thomas Prigmore, Carl Prigmore, Viola Strasbaugh, Orvil Prigmore, Ada Brockman, Vernon Prigmore, and Phil Prigmore.

Earl is survived by his stepchildren, Nancy Helms and her husband, Fred, of Stillwater, and Monty Pfleider and his wife, Cherri, of Alva; his step-grandchildren, Matt Davison and his wife, Shelley, of Piedmont, Crystal Lofton and her husband, Robbie, of Stillwater, Ky Pfleider and his wife, Kylee, Hattie Potter and her husband, Derek, Cole Pfleider, all of Alva, and Cade Pfleider and his wife, Maddi, of Woodward; and ten step-great grandchildren, J.K. and Jase Lofton, Sturgis Davison, Reid and Bo Pfleider, Hayes, Caulyer, Elyza, and Ladd Potter, and Cooper Pfleider. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Louise Prigmore of Alva; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Alva Goldbug Education Foundation
