Jimmy Earl "Jim" Prewett

Oct. 5, 1952 ~ Oct. 3, 2006

A memorial service for Jimmy "Jim" Earl Prewett, 53, of Enid, will be today, October 7, 2006, at 10 a.m. in the Oakwood Christian Church with Reverend Michael Frisbee officiating. Services are under the direction of Anderson-Burris Funeral Home and Crematory.

Jim was born on Oct. 5, 1952, in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Jimmy and Margaret Ann Garrison Prewett and died on Oct. 3, 2006, at Mercy Health Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

His love for sports started out as his birth announcement was made in the sports section of the newspaper, instead of the life section. He grew up in Maysville, Oklahoma and graduated from Maysville High School in 1970. He attended Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant. In 1972, Jim married Sandy Baldridge and they had two children, Marjorie and Mitch. They made their home in Cushing, where he worked for Phillips Pipeline for 15 years. They moved to Enid in 1986, and Jim worked for Sun Pipeline for 11 years. Jim coached little league baseball, girls softball, Kremlin High School girls basketball, Chisholm High School boys baseball, assisted Chisholm High School football and Enid Legion baseball. Jim later married Kathy Williams on June 2, 1990, in Enid, where they made their home. He was a member of the Oakwood Christian Church.

Jim was preceded in death by his grandparents and three uncles.

He is survived by his loving wife, Kathy of the home; his parents, Jimmy and Margaret Prewett of Bella Vista, Arkansas; children, Marjorie Gooding and her husband, Matt of Tulsa, OK, and Mitch Prewett of Los Angeles, CA; stepdaughters and their husbands, Debbie and Stacey Simmons of Kremlin, OK, Christie and Matt Watkins of Carrier, OK, Michelle and Brandon Gilbert of Offutt Air Force Base, NE, and Jennifer and James Childers of Little Rock Air Force Base, AR; one sister, Jamie Garrison of Flippin, AR; 12 grandchildren; and other relatives.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Angel Flight Southcentral orCancer Treatment Research Center (CTRC).
