Lealand Ray Pratt
February 28, 1927 - January 24, 2024

Memorial Services for Lealand Ray Pratt, 96, of Fairview, Oklahoma, will be held at the Fairview Methodist Church, at 1 pm, February 10th, 2024. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.

Lealand Ray Pratt was born February 28, 1927, to Harry Leon and Ora Ruth Ann Harrison Pratt in Loyal, Oklahoma and died January 24, 2024. Lealand attended school at the rural Big Elk School near Sentinel and later at Kingfisher. After his junior year, he transferred to Edmond Central College and graduated there with the senior class of 1945.

He was a member of the US Army from 1945 to 1946, stationed at Ft Leonard Wood, Missouri and Ft. Francis Warren, Cheyenne, Wyoming. Following his discharge he attended Hills Business College, Oklahoma City and in 1949 established Pratt Furniture in Fairview, OK. In the mid-90s the store was converted to an Antique Store but continued to offer floor coverings and custom upholstery. After selling the store, he continued upholstering and taught upholstery night classes at the VoTech. He closed his upholstery store in 2015.

He married Mary Jayne Howe, June 4, 1950, in the First United Methodist Church, Kingfisher. They made their home in Fairview where their two sons, Steven Keith and James Enoch were born.

Lealand was a member of the Methodist Church in Fairview where he was a member of the Official Board and served as its chairman along with being a member of the Methodist Men. He was a member of the Los Amigos Sunday School Class and taught on a regular basis. He was a member of the Fairview Lions Club since 1949 and in December 2004 was made a Life Member of the Club. He was past president of the club and a long-time member of the Board of Directors. He served as the program chair for several years. In 1981, he became the District Governor of Lions District 3-A. He served as president of the Oklahoma Lions Eye Bank in 1986 and again in 1991. He was named District 3-A Lion of the Year in 1986 and was made a Melvin Jones Fellow. He had been a member of the Fairview Chamber of Commerce and had served as president. He received the Chamber of Commerce’s Lifetime Achievement award in 2015.

He is survived by his wife of 73 years, his two sons, Keith and his wife Leslie of Las Vegas, Nevada, James and his wife Holly of Perkins, Oklahoma, 7 grandchildren, Cody Pratt and wife Kristen, Emily Pratt, Brandon Bilodeau, Ryan Vela and wife Alexis, Brett Vela and wife Madison, Natalie Hilterbran and husband Brian, Kyndall Guyer, 2 nephews, Charles Pratt and wife Shirley and Dean Pratt, and 2 nieces, Sherrie Humphries, and Tracie Maynard and husband Ray and 8 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his two brothers, Marion Pratt and Delbert Pratt, and sister-in-law, Carol Pratt.
