Ronnie Dean Powers was born on January 22, 1965, in Tahlequah, OK, to Richard James Powers & Naomi Rose (England) Powers. He passed away on Monday, March 16, 2026, in Tahlequah, OK, at the age of 61 years, 1 month, & 22 days. Ronnie grew up in the Stilwell, Tulsa, & Tahlequah areas, attending schools in Tahlequah & Tenkiller. He furthered his education by taking courses at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah. He spent most of his life in the Tahlequah & Oaks communities, where he built a life centered around family & hard work.
On August 1, 2005, Ronnie married the love of his life, Selena Michelle Watkins, in Siesta Key, FL. Together, they built a home filled with love, laughter, & unwavering support. Ronnie was a devoted husband & father, and he took great pride in caring for his family. His most treasured role in life was being a stay-at-home dad, a job he held close to his heart.
Throughout his working years, Ronnie held various positions, including working with Job Corps, food distribution, & in shipping & receiving for the Cherokee Nation. Most recently, he worked in shipping & receiving at Backyard Discovery in Siloam Springs, AR, where wooden swing sets are built for Sam’s Club.
Ronnie had a love for sports & was a dedicated fan of OU Sooners football & softball, as well as the Pittsburgh Steelers. He enjoyed fishing & hunting & cherished time spent outdoors. One of his greatest joys was traveling with his wife, Selena, & son, Jaxon, taking Selena wherever she wanted to go—whether it was Florida, California, Las Vegas, or Branson. Among his many adventures, his favorite was a memorable gator hunting trip in Louisiana.
Known for his quiet nature & sharp sense of humor, Ronnie had a way of making those around him smile. Whether with a quick comment or a well-timed eye roll, he brought laughter into everyday moments. He was a constant source of support & encouragement to his wife & played an essential role in keeping his household strong & steady.
Ronnie is survived by: His wife: Selena, of the home; 4 children: Steven Powers of Hulbert, OK, Brian Powers of Keys, OK, Danielle Powers of Leach, OK, & Jaxon Powers of the home; 5 grandchildren: Newt, Gus, Aspen, Kenton, & Karter; 1 brother: Jeffrey Powers; 1 sister: Linda Hawkins; His mother-in-law: Ruby Watkins; As well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives & a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents & his father-in-law, Pat Watkins.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, March 27, 2026, at the Locust Grove Funeral Home Chapel, with Brother Phred Spodnick officiating.
