John Herbert Powers

John Herbert Powers
February 22, 1954 - November 5, 2010

John Herbert Powers, Ponca City resident, passed away on Friday, November 5, 2010 at the Ponca City Medical Center. He was 56.

John was born February 22, 1954, the son of Kenneth Powers and Jenny Thomas Powers in El Dorado, Kansas. He was a 1972 graduate of Circle High School in Towanda, Kansas. John married Cindy Allen on August 2, 1978 in El Dorado, Kansas and to this union two sons, Brandon and Morgan, were born. John was a truck driver employed with Sullivan Trucking.

John loved being outdoors and he especially loved fishing. When he wasn't outside, he could be found doing carpentry work in his shop. John loved to travel and was a major Kansas City Chiefs fan. But of all enjoyments, spending time with his family topped the list, and in August of 2005 he moved from El Dorado, Kansas to Ponca City to be with his kids, especially his grandchildren who were the apple of his eye.

He is survived by his wife, Cindy Powers of the home sons, Brandon Powers and wife, Lisa and Morgan Powers and wife, Johanna granddaughters, Morgan S. Powers, Kamille M. Hedrick and Alexis E. Powers grandson, Robert M. Powers sister, Debbie Karst of El Dorado, Kansas numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Jenny Powers.

A celebration of Johns life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 13, 2010 at NOC Cove at Kaw Lake. The online guestbook can be signed at www.gracememorialchapel.net
