Richard Lee Powell
August 14, 1943 ~ May 31, 2018 (AGE 74)

Richard Lee Powell, of Duncan, passed away at his home on Thursday, May 31, 2018. He was born on August 14, 1943, in Los Angeles, California, to Marion Leo and Florence Hannah "Irene" Kuntzweiler Powell.

A memorial service will be held at Jimmy's Egg on Tuesday, June 5, between 1:00-2:00 P.M. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home/Oakcrest Cremation Center.

Richard graduated from La Puente High School. He was drafted into the U.S. Army and served from 1965 to 1967. He married Janet M. Cope on May 28, 1971, in La Puente, California. They owned Doughboy's Pizza and Subs in Duncan. After Doughboy's closed, he worked as a grocery manager at Homeland.

He loved to bowl and had 3 perfect games. He loved card games and going to the casino to play the slot machines. 

Richard is survived by his wife, Janet; and three sisters, Janet E. Hanson of Placentia, CA, Constance E. Masse of Pomona, CA, and Pamela S. and husband Galen Christman of Riverside, CA. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers-in-law, LeRoy Hanson and Normand Masse.

Memorial contributions can be made in Richard's name to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or to Chisholm Trail Hospice.
