Jerry Summers Powell

January 7, 1940 ~ December 1, 2004

Services will be held at Southwest Christian Center, 3700 Stine Rd., Monday, December 6, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. for Jerry Summers Powell, 64, who passed away December 1, 2004 in a local hospital.

Rev. Bob Proctor will officiate and interment will follow at Greenlawn Southwest Memorial Park, 2739 Panama Lane.

Jerry was born January 7, 1940 in McAlester, Oklahoma and resided in Kern County for 55 years. He was a U.S. Marine Corp Veteran. Jerry was a Co-Generation Plant Lead Operator for eleven years. He was a member of the Southwest Christian Center and was on the Church Board. He liked to hunt and fish. Jerry was a great singer of Gospel music and loved to play his guitar. He was a wonderful husband and a good father. He will be missed very much.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Delores Powell of Bakersfield; daughters & sons-in-law, Juline & Donald Foutch of Missouri, Janell & Tom Minor of Oklahoma and Janice & Ed O'Brien of Bakersfield; seven grandchildren; brothers & sisters-in-law, Carl & Lois Powell of Oklahoma, Tom Powell (his twin brother) of Bakersfield, and J. B. Powell of Oklahoma; sister & brother-in-law, Mary & Charlie Altenhofel of Arkansas; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held Sunday, December 5, 2004, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Greenlawn Southwest Mortuary Funeral Directors
