Vernon W. "Blackie" Poston, age 86, of Guthrie, Oklahoma passed away September 9, 2014 at Willow Creek Healthcare in Guthrie. He was born on May 9, 1928 in Texas. 

Blackie had lived in Guthrie since 1958 and previously lived in Texas. He married Ruby Scharline Buttress on March 20, 1993. He worked for Dolese as a truck driver and retired in 1995. He was a member of the VFW. Blackie was a steer wrestler and has a belt buckle on display at the Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City. He loved to fish and spending time at the lake. he enjoyed smoking meat and spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife Ruby Scharline of the home in Guthrie, 5 children, Jenise Phillips and husband Ronnie of Guthrie, Deann McClure and husband Danny of Harrah, Bobby Evans and wife Janet of Guthrie, Tracy Sloniker and fiancée Donnie Dilday of Guthrie and Lee Tucker and wife Kendra of Bethany, numerous brothers and sisters, 17 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM, on Saturday, September 13, 2013 at Hayes Funeral Home with Chaplain Gene Owen officiating.
