Lori Jean (Hopkins) Poppell
October 25, 1969 ~ January 10, 2018

Lori Jean Poppell was born October 25, 1969 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to Harold Gene and Wanda Louise (Carter) Hopkins. She passed away January 10, 2018 at her home in Mustang, Oklahoma at the age of 48 years, 2 months and 16 days.

Lori grew up in Carter, Oklahoma where she attended school. In 1986 she moved with her parents to Mustang, Oklahoma where she graduated in 1988. After graduation, she attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University where she was on a full ride basketball scholarship. She met and was eventually married to Marty Reeves. Together they had one son, Quaid Reeves and made their home in the Carter area. Lori began working for the Oklahoma State Reformatory in Granite, Oklahoma as a prison guard and in 1999 she moved to Lawton, Oklahoma where she met Dayton Poppell. They moved to South Texas and were married in 2003 in San Antonio, Texas. Lori and Dayton remained in Floresville, Texas until Dayton's death in 2009. Lori moved back to the Oklahoma City area where she made her home and raised her son. Lori was a crafty person and enjoyed home improvement projects, working on puzzles, caring for her dogs and she devoted her life to caring for her son, Quaid.

She is preceded in death by her mother, husband, Dayton Poppell, 1 brother, Lance Hopkins and her maternal and paternal grandparents. 

She is survived by her son, Quaid Reeves, Carter, OK; step son, Gil Poppell, San Antonio, TX; step granddaughter, Brittany Turner and husband, Dan, Kentucky; her father, Harold Hopkins and wife, Beverly, Midwest City, OK; 2 sisters, Lisa Balcer and husband, Eric, Woodward, OK and Lana Porter and husband, Ronnie, Carter, OK; 1 brother, Larry Hopkins, Winder, GA, step dad, Gerald Wilmeth, Moore, OK, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
