Donald Pope passed away in Bartlesville, OK, on March 4, 2025. He was born on Luke Air Force Base in Arizona to Ray and Alice Pope. Don spent his childhood in Alaska, then his family settled in Arkansas. He graduated from Arkansas Tech University with a degree in history. He was a teacher, author, and a video editor, and then he followed his dream to retire in a beach community in Mexico with his wife Jann. After Jann unexpectedly passed away in 2022, he moved to Oklahoma with his dogs to be near trees, lakes, and family.
He was known for his love of dogs, and always had a house full of dear four-legged companions. He loved the water, and he enjoyed fishing, kayaking, and swimming. He was a talented artist and painted many gorgeous landscapes over the years. In his free time, he was dedicated to improving his Spanish language skills and he enjoyed exploring new worlds in video games. Don was an early adopter of personal computers, and he passed on his love of tech to his children and grandchildren.
Don was preceded in death by his wife Jann Parrish. He is survived by his daughter Jennifer and her husband James Batson of Farmington, AR; his son Justin and his wife Karen Pope of Tucson, AZ; his daughter Jessica Pope and her partner Dane Schoelen of Seattle, WA; his stepson Jim and his wife Holly Schad of Tulsa, OK; 12 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; his brother David Pope of Bartlesville, OK; his brother Dan and his wife Leslie Pope of Richmond, VA; his former wife Jackie Singleton of Bartlesville, OK; and his niece Bonnie Pope of Cary, NC.
