Oliver Putnam "Butch" Polk Jr.
January 23, 1931 ~ November 11, 2019 (age 88)

Oliver "Butch" Putnam Polk Jr. was born January 23, 1931 in Pooler, Georgia to Lela Mai (Carter) and Oliver Putnam Polk Sr. He passed away November 11, 2019 at the Veterans Center in Clinton, Oklahoma at the age of 88 years, 9 months and 19 days.

Butch grew up in Jesup, Georgia where he attended school. While in high school he was very active in football, basketball and baseball. Upon graduation in 1950 he immediately enlisted in the United States Navy where he saw active service in the Korean War. In 1954 he was honorably discharged and re-enlisted in the United States Air Force where he also saw active service during the VietNam conflict. He completed his 20 year career with the armed forces he moved to Florida where he worked with his brother and for Sears. In 2010 Butch moved to western Oklahoma to be near his family. He enjoyed reading, Bingo, shuffle board, jigsaw puzzles and fishing.

He is preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers and 3 sisters.

He is survived by his 2 daughters, Paula Cook and husband, Jim, Sayre, OK and Jo Ellen Lang and husband, David, Eufaula, OK; 4 grandsons, Corey Hidlebaugh, Jared Hidlebaugh and wife, Michelle, Heath Lang and wife, CheyAnne and Matthew Lang; 5 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephew, other relatives and friends.

Private family services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Whinery Funeral Service.
