Kevin Ray Platte

July 16, 1987 ~ June 18, 2016

Kevin Ray Platte was born July 16, 1987 and was taken from this world at the early age of 28. Today he is rejoicing in the presence of His Savior Jesus Christ.

Kevin enjoyed all sports, but had a particular love for baseball and golf. He loved going on mission trips where he could work side by side with fellow believers.

Kevin was born in Portales, New Mexico. He attended schools in Wilson, Texas and Shattuck, Oklahoma. He graduated from Shattuck in 2005. Kevin lived the last 2 years of his life in Colorado where he passed away as a result of complications from a pulmonary embolism . Kevin was preceded in death by his brother Karl Platte. He is survived by his parents: Kenny and Gail Platte of Shattuck, his brother: Keith Platte and wife, Amy Platte their children - Olivia and Parker Platte of Brownwood, Texas. Nieces: Karli and Madison Platte and nephew - Hunter Platte of Edmond, OK; Grandparents: Dale and Lois Grose of Ft Cobb, Oklahoma and Grandmother: Myrle Matthies of Shattuck, Oklahoma along with a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Kevin struggled with the disease of alcoholism which entangled his life. So, if you encourage someone to "join in and have a drink," please be aware that you may be contributing to a lethal disease that is extremely hard to control and that they may not be aware of.

Kevin was a great joy to his family and to all who knew him.
