Scylan Scott Pike

May 12, 1940 ~ June 16, 2012

Scylan Scott Pike, age 72, of Talihina, Oklahoma and formerly of Hollis, passed away early Saturday morning, June 16, 2012, at the Oklahoma Veterans Center, in Talihina, Oklahoma. Mr. Pike was born in Yosemite, Kentucky on May 12, 1940, to Francis Marion and Lulu Mae (Wall) Pike. Growing up in Yosemite, Scylan attended school until he was fifteen and left to serve his country in the United States Navy. Serving tours in Viet Nam, Scylan spent the next twenty years in Ordnance Mechanics, with the Navy, retiring on March 1, 1976.

After his discharge in California, he moved to Arab, Alabama for a short time and later to Amarillo, Texas where he spent the next ten years after obtaining his auto and diesel mechanics degree. On June 23, 1987, he married LaQueta DeFoor, of Hollis. Moving to Franklin, Kentucky, he served as a security guard for the Kentucky State Police. Over the next few years, they lived in Spiro and Hugo Oklahoma and moved to Hollis where he lived until 2011, when his health began to decline.

Preceded in death by his parents; six sisters; five brothers; one son, Jeff Pike and one daughter, Jacquelyn Pike, he is survived by his wife, LaQueta Pike, of Hollis; one step-son, Michael McAlister of Hollis; two sons, Scot Pike and David Pike of Arab, Alabama; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, B.J. and LaVada DeFoor of Hollis; five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren along with many other relatives and friends.

In keeping with Scylan's wishes, his remains will be buried at sea by the United States Navy, arranged by Harmon County Funeral Home of Hollis.
