Ruth Ann (McMurtry) Phillips

June 6, 1945 ~ May 31, 2021

Ruth Ann McMurtry Phillips, 75, of Copan, OK, went home to her Lord on May 31, 2021.

Ruth was born on June 6, 1945, to Elson and Gertrude McMurtrey. She was raised and received her education in Copan, graduating in 1963. She then moved to Bartlesville and was employed with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. Later, she worked for a Bartlesville podiatrist, Dr. Macklin, as a secretary and doctor’s assistant.

In 1966 she met and married Monty Weiss and they made their home in Copan. They had one child, Elizabeth Michelle Weiss. They were married for 17 years.

She later married her husband of 33 years, Billy Paul Phillips. They made their home in Bartlesville for 20 years and in 2005 moved to Copan, where Ruth could be closer to her sister and daughter.

Ruth was a loving person. She enjoyed being a stay-at-home wife and mother and adored her family. When asked what her favorite thing was and what brought her the most joy, she would always tell you it was her family.

Ruth also loved her Lord Jesus. When she would talk about one day going to heaven, she did so with a glowing smile on her face and a twinkle in her eyes, boasting how wonderous it will be to never again be hungry or thirsty.

When she was still able to get around well, she loved Sunday time with her grandchildren.

Ruth will be missed and forever be a treasured memory of her family.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Elson and Gertrude McMurtrey; sister, Helen Howard; brothers, Junior Thomas, Eldon Thomas, Donald Dean Thomas, Jack Thomas, Louise McMurtry, Tommy McMurtry, and Howard Eugene McMurtry.

She is survived by one daughter, Elizabeth Michelle Weiss and husband William of Copan; two granddaughters, Natasha Pippin of Tulsa and Amanda Pippin Smith of Copan; three great-granddaughters, Jersee Pippin of Dewey, OK, Allee Pippin of Dewey, OK, and Harper Pippin of Tulsa; one grandson, Donald Paul Pippin and his significant other Tammy Ray of Tulsa, along with several nieces and nephews.

No formal services are planned. Arrangements are under the direction of Carter Davis and the Davis Family Funeral Home – Dewey Chapel. Online condolences and remembrances may be shared at
