Edith Melvina (Conner) Petersen

January 15, 1894 ~ August 28, 1961

Edith Melvina Conner Petersen was born January 15, 1894 at Fredonia, Kansas, and passed away August 28, 1961, at Riverside, California, after a few months illness with cancer.

Edith Conner came from Kansas as a small girl, with her family Mr. and Mrs. Pleasant Conner, and lived on a farm three miles west and 1/4 mile north of Reydon.

She went to school at what used to be old Enterprise School. On finishing that school, she went to a six month school teaching course at Cheyenne. She taught in 1915 and 1916 at Old Wildcat School, south and west of Reydon.

Edith married W. P. Petersen in 1916 and they lived on a farm three miles east of Reydon, until 1937 when they moved with their family to Riverside, California.

She is survived by her husband Will, of 3686 Pacific, Riverside, California; and three children, Mrs. Geraldine Cook of 3686 Pacific, Riverside, California; Billy Petersen, San Bernadino, California; and Mrs. Margaret Easterling of Bussac, France; a sister, Mary Conner of Perris, California; and a niece, Mrs. Claribel Blann of Perris, California.

Three sisters have preceded her in death. They were Mrs. Amy Wells, Mrs. Ruth Funston and Miss Elsie Conner.

She leaves ten grandchildren and one step-grandson, Jimmy Petersen, son of the late Roy Petersen and son of Will Petersen.

Services were conducted in the Rubidoux Mortuary Chapel, on September 2, 1961, at 10:00 a.m. at Riverside, with Rev. Clarence R. Abbott officiating.

Interment was in Perris Valley Cemetery, Perris, California. She will be there with two her sisters Elsie and Ruth.

Edith was a member of the Methodist Church of Reydon and was a Christian of long standing and put her life in the Lord's hands.

She was a devoted wife and mother and loved by all who knew her.
