Rev. Jimmie Lee Peter

June 21, 1934 ~ September 10, 2011

Rev. Jimmie Lee Peter 77, of Midwest city went to be with his lord and savior on September 10, 2011 at his residence. He was born on June 21, 1934 in Goodland Kansas to Leo and Esther Peter.

A1C peter was proud of his service in the United States Air Force during the Korean conflict from 1953 to 1957.

In 1952 Jimmie found the lord Jesus Christ through a Gideon bible that had been to given to him in high school. He attended St. Paul bible institute in Minnesota, Kansas state university and southwestern baptist seminary in Fort Worth TX. In 1976 (at the age of 42) the lord lead him to surrender to the ministry. Rev. Peter's served God by pastoring at Corum Baptist church in Corum, OK from 1977-1980, Silverlake Baptist church in Bartlesville, OK from 1980 -1985, freedom hill Baptist church in Mannford, OK from 1985 -1999 and as a volunteer firefighter/chaplain for the freedom hill fire department.

Upon retiring in 1999 he moved to Midwest City, OK and became an active and beloved member of the First Southern Baptist church in Del City family. He was also an avid golfer in his spare time.

Preceded in death by: his father Leo Peter, mother Esther peter, brothers: Ramond, Leman, and Wayne Peter, sisters Lila Peters, and Velma Lindsten.

Survived by: wife of 53 years Darlene Peter, sons Timothy Peter and wife Janina of Moore OK, Daniel Peter and wife Angela of Aztec NM, Michael Peter and wife Sheri of Tulsa OK. And Larry Bartels of Norman OK. Brother Ben Peter and wife Barbara of Topeka KS. Six granddaughters and one grandson and eight great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2011 at 3:00 pm in the First Southern Baptist church of Del City.

At his request, donations to the Gideons international (who supplied his first bible) should be sent in lieu of flowers.
