Carolyn Sue (Hay) Pendergraft went to be with her Lord and Savior on November 26, 2024, at the age of 86 in Cleveland, Oklahoma.
Carolyn was born on November 3, 1938, in Cordell, Oklahoma, the daughter of Henry Holman Hay and Viola (Beals) Hay. At a young age, Carolyn moved from Cordell to Oklahoma City, where she attended school, graduating from Capitol Hill High School. Following graduation, Carolyn furthered her education at Oklahoma Central State College in Edmond, graduating with her teaching certificate. After completing college, Carolyn moved to Texas, where she taught for several years. She then moved to Mannford, Oklahoma, where Carolyn began teaching at Mannford Elementary. On March 2, 1985, Carolyn was united in marriage to Theodore Franklin Pendergraft, and the couple made their home in Cleveland. Carolyn later began working at Cleveland Public Schools and retired in 1991 after teaching for over 30 years.
Teaching children was Carolyn's passion. She also enjoyed going to church and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Reading was one of her favorite pastimes, and she would spend hours reading daily. Carolyn and Ted attended Wayside Chapel in Terlton.
Survivors include her husband Ted of the home and seven children Mitch Moses of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Melinda Moses of Mannford, Oklahoma, Deborah Pate of Vinita, Oklahoma, Scott Pendergraft and his wife Cathy of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; Pamela Bearden of Vinita, Oklahoma, Logan Pendergraft and his wife Amy of Welch, Oklahoma, Karen Hayes of Salina, Oklahoma; grandchildren Valerie Moses Fipps, Stacy Jill Moses Jones, Blake Mitchell Moses, great-grandson sons Trenton and Isaiah Fipps and a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her siblings, Donald Hay, Robert Hay, and Jerrald Hay.
