Einar Nedland Pedersen

May 2, 1917 ~ Sept. 11, 2005

A memorial service for Einar Nedland Pedersen, 88, of New Orleans was held at 1 p.m. Sunday at Integris Bass Baptist Health Center Chapel. Cremation service was under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

He was born May 2, 1917, in New Orleans to Olav and Ellen Askeland Pedersen and died Sunday, Sept. 11, 2005, at Integris Bass Baptist Health Center in Enid.

He was a life-long resident of New Orleans, recently moving to Enid following Hurricane Katrina. He graduated from Fortier High School in 1935. He received his bachelor's of arts degree from Tulane University, New Orleans, in 1939. He enlisted in the Navy in 1941, serving 20 years. He retired in 1963 with the rank of lieutenant commander.

He married Eugenie Sirera May 19, 1942, in New Orleans. He retired as director of the student union of Tulane University in 1982.

He was a member of Society of The Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartets of America.

Surviving are his wife, Jean, of the home; three sons, Einar Pedersen Jr. of Enid, Leif Pedersen of Slidell, La., and Kristian Pedersen of Kuwait; three daughters, Ellen Conlin of Covington, La., Ingrid Kariker of New Orleans and Karin Brock of LaPlace, La.; two brothers, Lars and Jan Pedersen, both of New Orleans; one sister, Solveig Price of New Orleans; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to The American Red Cross, Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund.
