Rebecca Lynn "Becky" Pearson, 71, of Woodward, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at Woodward Integris Hospital following a courageous, long battle with diabetes. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at Crown Heights Baptist Church in Woodward, Oklahoma.
Rebecca Lynn (Sooter) Pearson was born on September 5, 1954, in Medicine Lodge, Kansas to Billie Joe (Bill) and Marjorie (Marge) Sooter. Her early years were spent traveling the tri-state area due to her father's career with the Santa Fe Railroad, before the family settled in Woodward. A proud graduate of the Woodward High School Class of 1972, Becky remained a fixture of the community for the rest of her life.
On March 17, 1973, she married the love of her life, Tommy Arnold Pearson, in Woodward. Becky spent many years working within the Woodward Public Schools to stay close to her sons, and later retired after a long career as a sales associate at Walmart.
Becky was best known for her kind heart and the warm smile she offered to everyone she met. She was a dedicated "oil field wife" and a talented homemaker who found joy in cooking, baking, and cross-stitching. She loved the peace of the mountains, but her greatest passion was her family. She devoted her time supporting her sons' hobbies, which included many sports and FFA activities. Her four granddaughters were her absolute pride and joy. She traveled thousands of miles to watch them perform or play in all their various activities.
Becky is survived by her loving husband, Tom Pearson; her children, Steve Pearson and wife Jodi of Amarillo, TX, and Derek Pearson and wife Rosa of Bellville, TX.
She leaves behind a legacy through her granddaughters: Paige Bennett and husband Jayton of Amarillo, TX; Kiersten Pearson of Pflugerville, TX; Brooklyn Jacobson and husband Ryan of Jacksonville, NC; and Taryn Pearson of Pflugerville, TX. She was the proud great-grandmother of Baker Reed Bennett and was eagerly awaiting the arrival of Cameron Dayne Bennett. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and her faithful feline companion, Stormy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Cindy Sue Pearson; her brothers, Edward (Herkey) Sooter and wife Lois and Henry Thomas (Tom) Sooter; and three beloved grandchildren, Cameron, Ashlyn, and Tanner Pearson.
