Freda Kathryn (Adkison) Pearce
July 11, 1935 ~ April 18, 2023

Freda Kathryn (Adkison) Pearce, age 87, peacefully passed on April 18, 2023 surrounded by her family.

Freda was 1 of 10 children born to Arthur Lee and Eva Adkison on July 11, 1935. She was raised in Carter Nine, Oklahoma, her father worked for the oil refinery. Freda graduated from Shidler High School and continued to further her education she moved to Tulsa earning her RN in 3 years. She met and married her beloved husband Leonard James Pearce. They were blessed with three sons Jimmy, Billy, and Leonard, and one daughter Sonya. Freda once again returned to school and earned her Master’s degree in Nursing with a Bachelors degree in Psychology from the University of Texas.

Freda taught in the nursing program at Murray State College and LVN program at Kiamichi Vo Tech, along with teaching at Southeastern State University in Durant. Freda was of the southern Baptist faith, serving her church and was involved in many community functions. In her early days, she was a member of the Baptist Women’s Association along with Women of Faith.

Freda loved her children, grandchildren and 1 great grandson. She enjoyed and loved traveling with her husband to the mountains and spending time with her sisters and brothers. Freda also loved her dogs.

She was preceded in death by her husband Leonard James Pearce; sons Jimmy Ray Pearce and Leonard Marion Pearce; and her daughter Sonya Pearce.

Freda is survived by her son Bill Pearce; granddaughter Tiffany Pearce, both of Durant; daughter-in-law Michelle Pearce; granddaughter Stephanie Pearce; great grandson Chandler Pearce, all of Denison, Texas; daughter-in-law Rhonda Pearce; granddaughter Jessica Pearce; grandson Keith Pearce, all of Durant; 1 sister, 2 brothers, and many nieces and nephews.
