LOGAN PAYNE DIES OF HEART ATTACK

Logan Payne of Wiley (Colo.) died suddenly at his ranch near the Big Ben Mill yesterday of a heart attack. He was 67 years of age.

Payne had been drilling wheat at his farm when he apparently suffered a heart attack as he carried a sack of grain to the drill. Death came about 5:30 p.m.

A native of Kansas, as a boy, he moved with his parents to Grady Co., Oklahoma. Payne came to Colorado in 1941 and to Prowers county six years ago and made his home at the ranch near Wiley.

Funeral services are incomplete pending the notification of relatives. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Roxie Payne of Wiley, three daughters and other relatives. Kirkpatrick-Duggan Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

PAYNE SERVICES HELD MONDAY

Funeral services for Logan Payne were held Monday, Oct. 26, at 2:00 p.m. at the Church of the Brethren, Wiley, Colo., with the Rev. Russell G. West, officiating.

A Musical selection "Precious Memories", "Closer Walk With Thee", and "Sweet Bye and Bye" were sung by Mrs. Doris McVickers, Mrs. Velma Reyher, John Weimer Jr., and Guy Coffey, with Mrs. Mildred Reyher accompanist.

Casket bearers were Harold L. Merkel, William Hinson, Leonard Krueger, Harry Weimer, Robert Colvin, and Barney Friesen. Ushers were Pierce Wilson and Victor Ullom.

Logan Payne was born in Clements, Chase county, Kansas, May 9, 1886, and died Oct. 22, 1953 at the age of 67 years, 5 months, and 13 days.

December 25, 1909, Mr. Payne was united in marriage to Roxie Gertrude Davis, in Middleberg, Grady Co., Oklahoma. To this union were born three daughters, Mildred, Wilma and Zola.

In 1941 this family moved into Colorado, establishing their home in Canon City, where they lived six years. In 1947, they moved to the Wiley community.

He is survived by his wife, Roxie Gertrude Payne, his three daughters, Mrs. Mildred Shipp of Amber, Okla., Mrs. Wilma Smith of Annondale, Va.; and Mrs. Zola Reyher of Salida, Colo., as well as six grandchildren; three sisters and one brother, namely Jessie Nunn, Effie Barger, and Ettie Cox, all of Amber, Okla. and Charles Payne of Yakima, Wash.
