DeAnn Hatcher Patton was born on July 11, 1937, in Salina, Kansas, and was raised in Garden City, Kansas. From an early age, she developed a love for dance, opening her own studio at just 15 years old and teaching children in her community. That love of dance and teaching remained with her throughout her life.
She graduated from high school with honors and earned a dance scholarship to Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha, Oklahoma. During her time there, she performed as a tap dancer, twirled with the college band, and made an early television appearance. She later returned to Garden City to attend junior college and be with her mother during a time of illness.
DeAnn continued her education at Northwestern State College in Alva, Oklahoma, where she married Cecil Snyder. While in Alva, she welcomed her daughter, Tamra Sue Snyder, and opened two dance studios—one in Alva and one in Freedom, Oklahoma—while completing her degree. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education in 1961.
In 1962, DeAnn and Cecil welcomed their son, Troy Don Snyder, and settled in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, where Cecil worked for Phillips Petroleum Company. DeAnn began her teaching career there, teaching for 12 years before continuing in Midland, Texas, for another 15 years.
In 1993, she returned to Bartlesville to retire and be closer to family.
Even in retirement, DeAnn remained active and connected to others. She enjoyed line dancing and Tai Chi and, from 2004 to 2021, taught line dancing at the Bartlesville 55+ Activity Center—sharing her love of dance and building lasting friendships along the way.
DeAnn was small in stature but had a presence that filled a room. She had a big personality, a strong spirit, and a way of bringing energy and light wherever she went. She was deeply loved and will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her daughter, Tamra Rogers and husband Rusty; her son, Troy Snyder and wife Carolyn; her grandchildren Rachel, Ryan, Trevor, and Lexi, and great grandchildren Macey, Jackson, Evie, Marlee, Grayson and extended family: Gerald and Sheri Robertson; Jeanice and Troy Young and Sydney Young; Crystal and Justin McPhail and their children, Hayden and Declan; and Jared Robertson and his daughters, Alexandria and Charlotte.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings.
A celebration of life ceremony is being planned, and details will be shared as they become finalized.
