Barbara G. (Beans) Parsons
Dec 23, 1919 ~ Nov 12, 2013

Barbara G. Parsons, age 93, and resident of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2013.

Barbara G. Beans was born on December 23, 1919 in Lincoln, Nebraska. She was the daughter of Yandell S. Beans and Marjorie Gail (Wilkinson) Beans. She was raised in Hiawatha, Kansas, where she received her early education, and was a graduate of the Hiawatha High School. She furthered her education by attending Highland Park Jr. College.

On January 19, 1941, Barbara and J. R. "Bob" Parsons were united in marriage in Hiawatha. After Bob's graduation from Kansas State University, Barbara and Bob moved to New Jersey, and then to Washington, D.C. as Mr. Parsons was in the U.S. Navy. In 1948, the family moved to Bartlesville.

Mrs. Parsons was a member of the First Christian Church, Bartlesville, where she had served for many years as the organist. She was the second woman elder of the church. Other memberships included President of Oklahoma Hospital Auxiliary (she had over 40,000 volunteer hours at Jane Phillips Medical Center); Oklahoma President of Christian Women's Fellowship; and state and local President of YWCA. She gave book reviews all over the U.S. She was a loving mother and an adoring grandmother. Her family will always remember her being a "sidelinemother", always there for her children's and grandchildren's sports and she was a big KSU, OSU and OU fan.

She is survived by her children, Richard "Dick" Parsons and his wife, Melanie, of Barrington, Illinois, David S. Parsons, M.D. and his wife, Begee, of Lake Wylie, South Carolina, and Susan Jane Pritchard and her husband, Bill, of Tulsa, Oklahoma; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; parents; sister, Constance; and two brothers, Stanley and David.

The family suggests in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Boy Scouts of America, Troop 1, c/o Wayde Hamilton, P. O. Box 1108, Bartlesville, OK 74005.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 16, at 11:00 AM, in the First Christian Church, 520 S. Osage Ave., Bartlesville. Pastor Rod MacIlvaine, Sr. Pastor of Grace Community Church, will officiate.
Cremation arrangements were entrusted to the Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left at www.honoringmemories.com.
