Richard Mark Palmer
February 8, 1946 ~ June 21, 2017

Richard Mark Palmer of Ponca City, Oklahoma born February 8, 1946 the son of Harold Palmer and Florence (Kilgore) Palmer of El Dorado, Kansas passed away June 21, 2017 at the Ponca City Hospital. He was surrounded by loving family and friends. 

A funeral service will be held at 2 pm Monday June 26, 2017 at Heritage Funeral Home Chapel in El Dorado, KS. Burial to follow at Sunset Cemetery in El Dorado, KS. Family will receive friends from 5-7 pm on Saturday June 24, 2017 at Trout Funeral Home in Ponca City, OK. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory. 

Richard is survived by his wife, Brenda (Mace) Patterson Palmer, his brothers Wayne and wife Sadie Palmer of Port Isabel, Texas, and Roger Palmer of Wichita, Kansas.

Children include step-children Eric Patterson and wife Sarah of Derby, Kansas, Robin James and husband Mark of Guthrie, Oklahoma, Adam Patterson and fiance' Tamera Diana Kohl of El Dorado, Kansas. Children are Amanda Kay Cortez and husband Jose of New Waverly, Texas, Kevin Lowmaster and wife Judy of Cassody, Kansas, Darrin Lowmaster, El dorado, Kansas, Holly Chastain, of Eureka, Kansas, and Brian Lowmaster, El dorado, Kansas. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Virgil Elliott of Blackwell, Oklahoma, Robert Palmer of Augusta, Kansas and his sister Mary Ann Anderson of Derby, Kansas. He was the proud Grandpa and Great-grandpa to his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Richard was a retired diesel mechanic. He had a variety of interests that included restoring old cars and going to local car shows. He also enjoyed shooting, especially long range shooting. Richard was very excited to introduce his wife to the sport which they both enjoyed. He was honored to become a Mason through the Eureka Masonic Lodge, Eureka, Kansas. He was a proud Shriner and enjoyed going to dinner with his wife with the Shriner Group of Ponca City, Oklahoma. 

Cancer played a large role in his life the last few years and was in remission three different times. He was cancer-free at his passing.
