Kenneth Ross Palmer

Kenneth Ross Palmer
November 25, 1930 ~ August 29, 2014

MSG (Ret) Kenneth Ross Palmer, 83, was born November 25, 1930 in Wooster, Arkansas to Ephy and Ruby [McKaskle] Palmer. He died in Lawton on August 29, 2014.

Kenneth enlisted in the United States Army in 1947. He reenlisted in 1954 and served until 1967. He then enlisted in the Army Reserves where he served for 20 years until his retirement in 1997. He was stationed in Fort Gordon, GA, Okinawa, Japan (where he was manager of the American Little League All Stars), Texarkana, AR, Fort Sill, OK, Thailand, and back to Fort Sill where he made his home.

He married Elba "Jeanette" Brown in 1949 and they divorced in 1952; they had a son, Elliott.

He married his second wife Lola Faye Newkirk on June 14, 1954 in Poteau, OK; she preceded him in death on August 1, 1988.

Kenneth bought a car lot, Palmer Motor Co. in 1965 on Cache Rd and then it became Five Star Classic Cars; he owned and operated it until 1996. He also worked as a manufacture representative selling eight track tapes and cassettes throughout Texas and Oklahoma. Kenneth also obtained his realtor's license and sold real estate in the Lawton area.

He was a member of the India Temple where he was a Shriner.

Kenneth was a great marksman and enjoyed skeet shooting and playing in dominoes tournaments. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ephy and Ruby; wife, Lola; sons, Marty Wayne Palmer and Elliott Palmer; and brothers, Dibrell Palmer and Amos Palmer.

Survivors include his daughter, Vicki Palmer-Smith of Lawton; grandsons, Christopher Palmer-Smith and fiance Marlena Cantu of Lawton and Elliott Palmer, Jr of Galveston, TX; granddaughters, Lacy Palmer of Lawton and Tara Palmer of Oak Harbor, WA; great-grandchildren, Willie Palmer of Galveston, Massimo DeLuca of Lawton, Lola Faith Palmer of Lawton, Noah Widner of Lawton, and Angie Caldwell of Lawton; sister Helen Long of Arizona.
