Evelyn Loraine (Harden) Palin
September 2, 1931 ~ April 2, 2020

Evelyn Palin, age 88 of Newcastle, formerly of Savanna, passed away Thursday, April 2, 2020, at the Senior Village Nursing Center in Blanchard.

Evelyn Loraine Harden was born September 2, 1931 in Holdenville, OK, 1 of 13 children born to John Henry Harden and Hattie Matilda (Bell) Harden.

She was raised in the Gerty Community where she attended school. Evelyn, like many in that time, learned at a very young age, the value of hard work.

She married young to Bob Dill, and to this union, 3 children: son Dennis and daughters, Molly and Deborah were born.

Throughout the years, Evelyn mainly worked as a cook. She cooked in public schools, local hospitals and nursing homes and also at Senior Centers.

In 1972, Evelyn married her best friend and life partner, Raymond Floyd “Poppa” Palin, and as two families became one, Evelyn gained another daughter, Kathy. Evelyn and Raymond made a home in Montana for many years until 1986 when he retired. They then lived in Arkansas before settling in Savanna in 2008 to be close to their daughter, Deborah. When health began to decline, they moved to Newcastle where their daughter Molly could help care for them.

Evelyn was a hard worker throughout her life, and she was a country girl through and through. She loved tending to her garden, raising chickens and bottle feeding her calves. In her younger years, she enjoyed riding horses, and later, she traded all of this for chasing her grandchildren. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be dearly missed!

She was preceded in death by:
Her husband, Raymond “Poppa” Palin;
Her parents, John Henry and Hattie Harden;
Son-in-law, Gabe Burris and 11 siblings

Evelyn is survived by:
Her Daughters, Molly Burris of Newcastle and Deborah Miller of Savanna, and Kathy Dodge and husband Pat of Veneta, WA
Son, Dennis Dill of Mannsville, OK;
Brother, Joe Harden of Calvin, OK;
