William E. ”Bill” Padgett

William E. ”Bill” Padgett
March 10, 1932 ~ December 30, 2012 (age 80)

Padgett, William E.”Bill”, 80, passed away Sunday, December 30, 2012 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  He was born March 10, 1932 in Plainview, Arkansas to Lewis Oliver Padgett and Retha Mary Stahl.  He married Donna Sue Lazenby in Plainview, Arkansas on January 12, 1952.

Bill served in the Army from 1952 to 1954.  He was employed by the United States Postal Service for 35 years. Bill lived in Tulsa and transferred to Norman in 1974. While living in Norman he was a member of the Masonic Lodge, McFarlin United Methodist Church, Kiwanis and the Tri City Gun Club. Bill was a Oklahoma University football and basketball season ticket holder.  He was an active volunteer at the Sam Noble Museum and enjoyed working in his vegetable garden, fishing for bass at the lake and hunting deer.  He loved carving wood, being a handy man and he was a natural engineer. He found comfort and love in the company of his sheltie dogs.    

Bill is survived by his wife, Donna Sue Padgett; two daughters, Dr. Jeanette Padgett of Oklahoma City, Suzanne Padgett and husband Scott Pyne of Halfmoon Bay, California; two brothers, James Padgett of Houston, Texas, Elmer Padgett and wife Lavada of Russellville, Arkansas; two grandchildren, Elyse Padgett Sicher and Erin Padgett Pyne.  He is proceded in death by his parents, brother Otis Padgett and sister Irbydale Colbert.

Visitation will be held 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 2, 2013 and 9:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m., Thursday, with family greeting friends from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., January 3, 2013 at Havenbrook Funeral Home.

Funeral Service will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 4, 2013 in the Chapel of the Havenbrook Funeral Home.  

Arrangements for Bill and his family have been placed in the care of the Vice Family at the Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman.
