Muriel E. (Heiser) O'Rourke

Muriel E. (Heiser) O'Rourke
January 06, 1925 ~ January 24, 2019

A Celebration of Life for Muriel E. (Heiser) O'Rourke, 94, of Enid, is 10:00 am, Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Mark E. Mason officiating. The family will lay Muriel to rest in a private burial at a later date. Cremation and funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Muriel was born January 6, 1925 in Brooklyn, NY to Jacob and Genevieve (Mullally) Heiser, and passed away Thursday, January 24, 2019 at home surrounded by her family. She spent most of her life on Long Island. After the war, she met her husband, Edward J. O'Rourke, and they were married on December 23, 1945. They raised their children on Long Island until they moved to Enid in 1970 with Union Equity.

Muriel enjoyed having her family and friends around throughout the years, and loved being the perfect hostess. She took pride in her home, yard and possibly the largest Santa Claus collection in NW Oklahoma. Muriel never missed an occasion to send a card to someone. She also kept every card that was sent to her, including those from Ed before they were married.

Muriel is survived by five children, daughter Maureen McDonald Hoffman (Karl) of Galena, IL; Kevin O'Rourke (Kim) Owasso; Debbie Ross (Philip) Ponca City; Brian O'Rourke (Kelly) Enid; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward O'Rourke; brother, Donald Heiser; son-in-law, Michael McDonald; daughter-in-law, Linda O'Rourke; and grand-daughter Jennifer O'Rourke.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Muriel's memory to Hospice Circle of Love with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.

Condolences may be made and services viewed online at www.ladusauevans.com.
