June 14, 1932  ~ April 1, 2018 (Age 85)

Harla June Olds, of Marlow, passed away on Sunday, April 1, in Duncan, at the age of 85. She was born on June 14, 1932 in Waurika, to Troy Edgar (T.E.) and Dorothy Ruth (Hall) Sparks. 

A memorial service is scheduled for Friday, April 27, at 3:30 P.M. in the Whitt Funeral Home Chapel with Ron Stough, minister of Eastside Church of Christ, officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home.

Harla June attended school in Hobbs, NM, McCamey, TX, before moving to Duncan where she attended Irving School. She graduated from Duncan High School in 1951. After attending Oklahoma A&M (OSU) for 1 year, she went to work for Halliburton in the Engineering Department (8 years) and then the Chemical Lab (5 years). She was a member of the Desk & Derrick Club and Epsilon Sigma Alpha sorority, serving as an officer on the local and state level.

She married James David (J.D.) Olds in November, 1954, in Lawton and they were blessed with 2 daughters, Kimberly Diane and Christie June. They moved to Wichita Falls where she belonged to the Women's Forum (Jr-Sr) Garden Club and Bridge Division, serving as vice president. They later moved back to Duncan where she worked as a volunteer for the hospital ER. She obtained her realtor's license and worked for Kay's, AAA, Real Estate One, and Girod Agency. She also served on the Board of Realtors. Harla June kept in close contact with her classmates and friends. She was an avid bridge player. She cherished the time she spent with her granddaughter, Lindyse, and depended on her.

Harla June is survived by her daughters, Kimberly Diane Johnson and Christie June Olds, of Duncan; grandchildren, Lindsye Shanae Boatman of Duncan and Clint Johnson of Austin, TX; brother, Perry Edgar and spouse Gloria Sparks, of Haughton, LA; sister, Beverly Sparks of Lubbock, TX; uncle, Jim Ted Whitt; nieces, Lori Griffith, Kelly Staud, Dana Thibodeaux, Bryan Edgar Sparks, David Sparks, and William Trent Sparks; and Herb and Doris Lang.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Ray Kent Sparks and Jerry Hall Sparks; and husband, J.D. Olds.
