Jane (Felder) Nusz

Jane (Felder) Nusz
November 3, 1951 ~ 2020

Jane Felder Nusz was born on November 3, 1951 in Okeene, OK. She attended St. Mary’s Catholic School and Okeene Public Schools, graduating from Okeene High School in 1969. She went on to Oklahoma State University where she graduated with a degree in education in 1973. Jane taught in Geary Public Schools from 1974-1992. She then took a year to focus on her family before teaching at Oklahoma State University from 1993 – 1996. She returned to Okeene High School teaching Family and Consumer Sciences from 1996 to 2020. Jane was passionate about education and throughout her 40 years in education, she loved her students like her own children. Jane’s dedication to education extended well beyond the classroom, she was a role model and “second mom” to her students in school, those she reached through her role as a religious education teacher and to so many friends of her children. Jane received a number of awards and recognitions throughout her career. Most recently, she was named the 2019 Archbishop Paul S. Coakley Religious Educator of the Year.

Jane was an avid community activist. She has been named Okeene Citizen of the Year and Okeene Volunteer of the Year, and Woman of the Year at her church. Through her role as FCCLA sponsor, she organized the Okeene Secret Angel project each Christmas, providing much needed gifts to countless local families; and the annual Win-Win fundraiser for Stephenson Cancer Center. She found so much joy in organizing the annual Okeene Easter egg hunt, providing every child who attended a “prize” egg with a special gift. She was cheer sponsor for many years both in Geary and Okeene. She also served as a member of the Okeene Hospital Board. Jane found tremendous joy in giving to others and making the world a brighter place especially for children.

Family was the most important and loved part of Jane’s life. If you met her, you most certainly heard about her grandchildren within the first 2 minutes of conversation. She loved her family fiercely and would have done anything for them. Jane is survived by her children Nichole Lipps and husband Corey Lipps of Edmond, OK and their children Kate, Collin and Noah; her son Andrew Nusz and wife Jennifer Nusz of Kingfisher, OK and their children Carson and Landon; and her son John Nusz and wife Alicia Nusz of Choctaw, OK and son Ashton; her parents, Dorothy Jewel Felder and Anthony Felder; her sisters Beth Weber of Victoria, TX; Joan Geers of Yukon, OK; Ruth Boeckman of Enid, OK and Barbara Creps of Okeene, OK. She was preceded in death by her brother Tony Felder.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 4th at St. Anthony Padua Catholic Church in Okeene, OK. Immediate and extended family are welcome to join us at the church for this mass. We will be observing social distancing so capacity will be limited. To accommodate everyone who would like to attend the service, we will also be live streaming the service at the Okeene High School auditorium and online. A rosary will be held in Jane’s honor at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 3rd at St. Anthony’s. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Catholic Charities or Win-Win.
