Edna Mae (Sell) Norton

Edna Mae Sell Norton was born just outside of Booker on April 19, 1931 to Daniel Howard and Alnora (Getz) Sell. Edna Mae graduated from Booker High School and then attended McMurray College in Abilene, TX where she earned a BA in Chemistry. On September 18, 1953 Edna married Jerry Joseph Norton (since, she said, he was the only man she met who was smarter than her) in Booker, TX and they made their home in Ohio then Colorado. Through the years, they also lived in Oklahoma, Texas, New Jersey and SE Kansas. In 2003, Jerry passed away two days after their 50th wedding anniversary and after a few years, Edna went to live with her daughter in Newcastle, OK. Edna was active in her church and served in many leadership positions. She belonged to Tulsa Town Tolers, a decorative painting club, and even had one of her hand-painted Christmas ornaments shown in the Smithsonian. She owned a Craft store in Caney, KS and taught various craft and painting classes for years. She was an avid genealogist and has several published Family History books.

Edna Mae passed away on August 24, 2014 in Newcastle, Ok and was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry; her parents: Dan and Alnora Sell, one brother: Richard Sell, and a grandson: Michael Teancum Sagastizado.

Edna is survived by her sister, Jo Ann Bechthold, her 6 children and their spouses, 31 grandchildren and spouses, and 23 great grandchildren. Shannon Mae Richards and husband Bart of Omaha, NE and their children: Daniel Richards and wife Tami; David Richards and wife Melissa and their children Mark, Lily, Violet, and Joseph. John Richards; Jennifer Swanson and husband Joel and their children: Aubrey, Ryan, and Joshua. Heather Denham and husband Donald of Bartlesville, OK and children: Lynda and husband Den Watts and children: Emily, Aiden, and Zaila; Joseph Horton and sons Trevor and Wyatt; Adam Horton and wife Sarah and children: Jason, Christopher and Addison. Dennis Norton and wife Judy of Houston, TX and children: Preston Norton; Amber and husband Victor Miramon; Alexandra and husband Michael Rodriguez and children: Tristan, Draven, and Sebastian; Joshua, Tommy, Spencer and Allison Norton. Tammy Sagastizado and husband Felipe of Newcastle, OK and their children: Tony Sagastizado; Douglas Sagastizado and wife Ary and their daughters Celeste and Isabella; Matthew Sagastizado and wife Ashley (expecting); Benjamin Sagastizado; Maria Randall and husband Travis and their sons Alexander and Greyson; Felipe, David, Elizabeth and Rebeca Sagastizado. Colleen Barrett and husband Woody of Bennington, VT; and their children: Jason and wife Rebecca Barrett and their son Jacob; Loren Barrett; Aaron and wife Lyncee Barrett; Michael, Eric and Colleen Noel Barrett. Kelley Rigney and husband Rick of Independence, Ks and their daughters Sarah and Molly.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, August 30th at 11 a.m. in The Church of Jesus Christ of LDS in Blanchard, OK.

Interment will be at Heart Cemetery in Booker, TX on September 2, 2014.
