Charles Michael �Mike� Newland, resident of Blackwell Oklahoma, died Friday evening June 21, 2013 in the company of his family. He was 59 years old.

Mike was born January 2, 1954 in New Orleans Louisiana, the son of Harold Eugene Newland of Ponca City and Judy Irene (Gates) Newland of Garland Texas. Attended school in Garland Texas, married and raised children in Dallas Texas.

He is survived by his mother Judy Newland of Garland Texas; his father and step mother, Harold and Barbara of Ponca City; two children, Jeremy and wife Patricia of Allen Texas; Jessica and fiance' Brett of Dallas; his ex-wife Marcie whom he loved dearly, of Burlington Vermont; three brothers Pat of Dallas, Rory and Angie of Ponca City, and Dan and Becka of Sachse Texas; three grandchildren Korbin, Brenna, and Aria of Allen Texas; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mike had a passion for writing, literature and the arts. He is a published writer. While living in nursing homes for the past several years Mike made lots of friends. He had a special place in his heart for so many of the staff.

A memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 24, 2013 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 2408 East Hartford, Ponca City. Arrangements are under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
