Memorial service for Richard Newkirk, 64, will be 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17, 2014, at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home, with Brian Meyer officiating.

Casual dress is requested by the family. Cremation arrangements are by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home and Crematory.

Richard was born to Merida and Leona (Porter) Newkirk on Oct. 15, 1950, in Enid, Okla., and passed away Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2014, at his home in Enid.

Richard graduated from Carrier High School in 1968, and attended Northwestern in Alva.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1970-72.

On May 27, 1972, Richard married Jamie Sue Henry, and they made their home in Enid.

He worked in sales for Sears, Otasco, Atwoods, Evans and Ace Hardware. He enjoyed fishing and playing cards with family and friends.

He is survived by wife, Jamie of the home; two children, Jason Newkirk of Enid, and Cory Newkirk of Hurst, Texas; one grandchild, Merrick Newkirk; two sisters, Betty Karns and Linda Clemens, both of Enid.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Roy Newkirk.
